A man after God's heart our beloved has transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home. Mr. Roy Rogers Harrison Sr. was born in Lincolnton, Georgia to the late William Harrison Sr. and Blanche Leverett Harrison on December 14,1947 and transcended to embrace Heaven’s doors on January 24,2022 at University Hospital in Augusta Georgia.
Roy accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was a member of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Augusta Georgia. Roy attended school in Lincoln County where he would later graduate. He also served in the Marines in the early years of his life. He was a hard worker loved singing and had the wisdom of Solomon which he was always willing to share. He worked many years at Murray Biscuit Company in Augusta, Georgia and later retired from the City of Augusta Water Works. He spent his last few years and days doing what he loved taking care of and spending time with his brother William Harrison Jr. a promise he made to his mother before her in death.
Roy will forever live in our hearts as a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend who will never be forgotten for he gave us all so many precious moments and memories to remember him. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sisters, Annie Maude Harrison and Susie Bell Harrison as well as brothers, Charlie Thomas Bennett and Nathan Bennett.
Roy's life was a blessing and the memories of him will be treasured. He was truly loved and will be missed. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of many years Mary Louise Harrison of Lincolnton Georgia; also, his wife at the time of death Almedia Harrison of Augusta Georgia; five sons, Alan Bernard Harrison, Roy R Harrison Jr. all of Lincolnton Georgia; Julian Harrison, Marquavious and Devonta Johnson of Augusta Georgia; three daughters, Rosalyn Bartley (Mack Bartley), Demetria Jones all of Augusta Georgia and Royal Ebony of Boston Massachusetts; four sisters, Pastor Lillie Bell Leverett (Bonnie Leverett) of Newark, New Jersey and Marie Gibson of Jersey City, New Jersey; Mary and Myrtis Harrison of Lincolnton Georgia; one brother, William Harrison Jr. of Augusta Georgia; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws and friends.
