Mr. Gregory Garnett of Lincolnton, Georgia entered into rest Monday night, December 27, 2021 at University Hospital Augusta, Georgia. A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of Mrs. Bessie R. Garnett and the late Mr. John Russell Garnett. Born January 28, 1962, he was preceded in death by his father, Mr. John Russell Garnett and his brother, Mr. Swain Russell Garnett.

Mr. Gregory Garnett was employed by Georgia Pacific for 36 years.

Mr. Garnett graduated from Lincoln County High in 1980. Gregory was a member of the band and he played baseball and basketball.

An active and faithful member of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, Gregory was a member of Sons and Daughters of Bethlehem Society. Before his health failed, he was a member of the Usher and Usherette Board, Brotherhood Class, Jennie Garnett Scholarship Committee and Sunday School. At one time, Bro. Garnett served as Chairperson of the Sunday School Anniversary Committee.

For several years he served as Primary Teacher of Newberry Missionary Baptist Sunday School.

In addition, he was also a Member of Twilight Improvement Association.

Throughout his illness, Mr. Garnett remained positive, continued to reach out to others, loved and respected his family and offered help and encouragement to others. He loved his tractor and enjoyed working outside.

Gregory was very caring and kindhearted. He loved his tractor and enjoyed working outside.

He leaves to cherish his memories: A devoted and loving wife for 25 years, Mary B. Garnett, stepson Cornelius Leverett of Charleston, South Carolina; mother  Bessie Garnett of Lincolnton, Georgia; brothers: Jessie (Joyce) Garnett and Alfred (Angelica) Garnett, all of Conyers, Georgia, aunts: Mamie Garnett, Vernita Garnett, Wilhemenia Garnett all of Lincolnton, Georgia; Bobbie Tutt of Hillside, New Jersey; brother in laws: Allen (Rever) Bennett and Grady Bennett both of  Lexington, North Carolina; sister in laws: Helen Bennett of Lincolnton, Georgia; Cassandra Bennett of Washington D.C.; Drusilla Bennett of Hyattsville, Maryland; step grandchildren: Audrey, Pierce, Caden Leverett of Charleston, South Carolina; nieces: Alexeia, Alyssa Garnett, Conyers, Georgia; Miranda Beard (Marcus) of Lincolnton, Georgia; Chaun Garnett of Texas; and a host of caring relatives and friends.
