On October 27, 2021, an angel flew over University Hospital in Augusta Georgia and swept Uncle Bug away. God called home a very precious and beloved jewel. Mr. Granvil Willie (Linbug) Willingham entered into eternal rest.
Mr. Granvil Willingham was born January 19, 1948, in Appling Georgia to the late Mr. Robert Willie and Florence Inez Willingham. He accepted Christ and joined Rehoboth Baptist Church at an early age. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Georgia Lee Hogan Willingham on June 1, 1968.
He was educated in the Columbia County School system for a short period of time and attended “Bit Mo College”. He was an entrepreneur. He drove trucks for (Linbug Pulp wooding) and worked in the logging industry for JC Ashmore & Bobby Wilkinson. He later changed his career and became a caretaker for the late Thomas Williams until his health failed. Linbug was a jack of many trades. He enjoyed mechanizing, playing cards, fishing, hunting, drinking & telling the “stretch” truth. Uncle Bug was very loving, comical, and always had a joke to tell. Although he did not have any biological children, he assisted rearing his siblings, nephews and nieces. Linbug was well content with the simple things in life and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community.
Granvil was proceeded in death by four sisters, Mary Ella Green, Hattie W. Thomas, Martha Marshall & Evernell Elam & two half-brothers Eddie Willingham & Roosevelt Garnett.
He leaves to cherish his memories three sisters: Cora “Sis” Willingham & Lillian W. (John) Parks both of Lincolnton, GA, & Annie J. Willingham of Washington GA: two brothers in laws Earl Elam & Michael Hogan and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
