The April showers did not only bring May flowers in early spring, but also a new member to the family. Charles Otis Beard, affectionally known as “Hoppy” on May 12, 1947, to Mr. and Mrs. Roy (Duries) Beard, Sr. Hoppy ended this blooming life on Sunday March 6, 2022, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
He was a native of Lincoln County and attended the Lincoln County Training School and worked in numerous capacities. He joined the White Rock Baptist Church at an early age.
His parents, Roy and Duries Beard, brothers: Leonard, Alvin, Leon, Roy Jr., Vincent, sisters: Charlene and Paulette all preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Marnie (Beard) Bensavage; one son, Charles Jackson (Christian) of Grovetown, Georgia; four daughters, Charlotte Battle (Torrie) and Stephanie Beard of Lincolnton, Georgia; Natalie Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia; Shacangila Wade of North Carolina; one stepdaughter, Brittany Berrios (Charles) of Lincolnton, Georgia; two brothers, Paul Beard (Cathy) of Lincolnton, Georgia; and Racy Beard of Monroe, Georgia; two sisters, Shirley Jones (Willie) of Lincolnton, Georgia and Gayle Beard of Augusta, Georgia; mother in law, Ms. Sue Bensavage; aunt, Ms. Susie Beard of Lincolnton, Georgia; two sisters in law, Dorothy Beard and Marissa Meehan of Lincolnton, Georgia; a brother in law, Jo Bensavage.
Eleven grands: Nakisha Hill, Charkalen Parks, Markalen Parks, Charlie Winters, Bren Davis, Nayt Cretian, DeAndre Jackson, Devarian Jackson, Briana Jackson, DeMariah Smothers and a special grandson, Marcovius Beard. Eleven great-grands.
