Robert Elam, Sr.

On August 25, 1943, Robert Elam, Sr. was born to the late John and Mandy B. Elam in Lincolnton, GA.  He entered into rest on April 16, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.

In his early years as a child, Robert Elam Sr. attended the Lincoln County School System. He married Mildred M. Elam on June 22, 1964. The couple relocated to Miami, Florida where Robert Elam, Sr. stepped foot into the lucrative automotive industry. After 7 years, Robert and Mildred moved back to Augusta, GA to where he expanded RJE Auto Shop to the Augusta area. He spent his years doing what he loved working on automobiles. RJ enjoyed entertaining his loved ones and friends. He provided wisdom and love to anyone who was near him. RJ was a true inspiration and epitome of a hard working man. He spent his years dedicated to what he built and loved.

Robert Elam, Sr. was preceded in death by his late wife, Mildred Elam of Lincolnton, GA; his brothers, Lawrence Elam Sr., and Roosevelt Elam, Eugene Elam, Annie Mae Sewell, and George Elam; his granddaughter, Monriah Elam.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his two daughters, Mandy (Mavrick) Bennett and Whitney Strader; his three sons, Robert Elam, Jr., Antwon Strader, and Christopher Ciechan; his grandchildren: Salaythia Norman, Brandy (Gerquad) Jones, Domonique Elam, Dameyia and Dakayla Strader, D'mario (Aja) Elam, Zyon Elam, Donell Wynn, Danielle Moore, Devon Elam, Stephon Elam, Shane Elam, Breyanna Crawford, and Chrishya Ciechan; two sisters: JoAnn Elam and Lena Bell Ellison; two brothers: Jesse (Glenda) Elam and James Elam; his 12 great-grandchildren; his godchildren: Gerald Elam and Haymus Harris, Jr.; his devoted friends: Joey Butler, Kenny Presley, Elizabeth Leaphart and Mark Dixon.
